By purchasing or submitting a sample for DNA testing, you acknowledge and accept these terms.

Perkins Poultry Palace & DNA Lab currently offers:

  • Recessive White Gene Testing

Testing availability may depend on the species and sample type.

Sample Quality

Testing accuracy depends on proper sample:

  • Collection
  • Labeling
  • Storage
  • Packaging
  • Shipping
  • Handling

Customers are responsible for following the published instructions.

Perkins Poultry Palace & DNA Lab is not responsible for inaccurate, inconclusive, delayed, or unavailable results caused by poor or compromised samples.

Laboratory Testing

Testing is performed using established molecular techniques and quality-control procedures.

No biological test is completely infallible. Technical limitations, sample quality, contamination, biological variation, or other factors may produce inconclusive or unexpected results.

Results

Results reflect the laboratory’s interpretation of the submitted sample using the methods available at the time of testing.

Results should not be interpreted as an absolute guarantee of:

  • Health
  • Fertility
  • Performance
  • Future phenotype
  • Breeding success
  • Commercial value
  • Genetic quality beyond the specific test ordered

Inconclusive Results

If a result cannot be completed because of sample quality or quantity, a new sample may be required.

Additional testing or resubmission fees may apply.

Turnaround Time

Any stated turnaround time is an estimate.

Processing time may be affected by:

  • Sample condition
  • Testing volume
  • Shipping delays
  • Additional testing requirements
  • Equipment or supply availability

Customer Responsibility

Customers certify that:

  • The submitted sample belongs to the identified bird
  • The sample information is accurate
  • They have authority to submit the sample
  • The sample has been collected legally and appropriately
  • The sample is labeled correctly

Business Decisions

Customers remain responsible for all breeding, purchasing, selling, culling, management, financial, and animal-care decisions made using the results.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Perkins Poultry Palace & DNA Lab will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from:

  • Sample collection errors
  • Sample labeling errors
  • Shipping delays
  • Sample contamination
  • Biological variation
  • Testing limitations
  • Customer breeding decisions
  • Loss of income
  • Loss of livestock value
  • Lost breeding opportunities

Any direct liability will not exceed the amount paid for the specific testing service giving rise to the claim.

DNA Sample Collection and Submission Policy

Perkins Poultry Palace & DNA Lab currently accepts blood samples and feather samples for supported species.

Separate Samples

Each bird’s sample must be packaged separately.

Do not combine samples from multiple birds.

Sample Identification

Each sample must be clearly labeled with the same identifier entered on the online submission form.

The identifier may include:

  • Bird name
  • Color
  • Breed
  • Band number
  • Customer-created sample name

Blood Samples

Blood samples must be:

  • Collected according to the provided instructions
  • Allowed to dry completely
  • Protected from moisture
  • Packaged separately
  • Clearly labeled

Feather Samples

Feathers must be:

  • Freshly plucked
  • Clean
  • Free of visible dirt or feces
  • Packaged separately
  • Clearly labeled
  • Submitted with intact quills when required

Naturally shed feathers may not provide suitable DNA and should not be submitted unless approved in advance.

Shipping Samples

Customers are responsible for:

  • Proper collection
  • Correct labeling
  • Safe packaging
  • Appropriate postage
  • Mailing to the correct address

Perkins Poultry Palace & DNA Lab is not responsible for samples lost, damaged, delayed, or contaminated during shipping.

Submission Form

Customers must provide accurate information for every sample, including:

  • Species
  • Breed, when known
  • Sample identifier
  • Sample type
  • Test requested
  • Contact information

Customers may add multiple samples through the online submission form.

Results Delivery

Results may be delivered by:

  • Email
  • Text notification
  • Another approved electronic method

A valid email address may still be required for delivery of the official report.

Certification

By submitting a sample, the customer confirms that:

  • The sample is accurately labeled
  • The form information is correct
  • The sample corresponds to the bird identified
  • The collection instructions were followed
