Live Chick, Poult, and Live Bird Policy
By purchasing live chicks, poults, birds, or other live animals from Perkins Poultry Palace & DNA Lab, you accept the following terms.
Health at Transfer
Animals are inspected and are expected to be active and in suitable condition when they leave our care.
Once an animal has been shipped, delivered, or picked up, factors such as transportation, temperature, stress, handling, housing, nutrition, and environmental conditions are outside our control.
Final Sale
All live-animal sales are final.
Live animals cannot be returned or exchanged after leaving our property, except where required by law.
Straight Run and DNA-Sexed Birds
Chicks, poults, pea chicks, emu chicks, and other young animals are sold as straight run unless the product listing specifically states:
- Pullet
- Female
- Male
- DNA sexed
- Sex guaranteed
Customers should review the individual product listing carefully before purchasing.
Minimum Order
A minimum purchase of three chicks may be required when the customer does not already have chicks of a similar age.
This requirement supports the health and social well-being of young birds.
Payment and Reservations
Payment must be completed in full before live animals are reserved.
Animals will not be held without payment.
Pickup
Pickup is by appointment only.
Customers must arrive on the scheduled date and time with safe and appropriate transportation.
Failure to collect animals on the agreed date may result in forfeiture of the order without a refund.
Shipping
Shipping eligibility depends on the animal, age, destination, carrier requirements, and weather.
Carrier delays are outside our control.
Care Requirements
Customers are responsible for providing appropriate:
- Housing
- Brooder temperature
- Feed
- Clean water
- Ventilation
- Bedding
- Predator protection
- Veterinary care
We strongly recommend researching the care requirements of each species before purchasing.
Chicks
Young chicks should receive an appropriate chick starter feed and a safe heat source capable of maintaining the required brooder temperature.
